Obituary of Carl Lee Longnecker

Carl Lee Longnecker, 88, of Yelm, Washington, peacefully passed away on January 24, 1024.  His life began March 20, 1935, in Connersville, Indiana.  He retired from the State of Washington while working at Centralia City Light, Yelm Powerhouse.

 

Giving back to his community was important to Carl.  He volunteered his time with the Senior Citizen Center and started the Medical Equipment Bank, which provided the elderly community with basic medical equipment,

 

Carl was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  He loved family gatherings of all kinds, cherishing time spent with his loved ones.  When not with his family, he could often be found on the dance floor or traveling.

 

Carl will be greatly missed by friends and family.  He is survived by four daughters, Dannette (Brian) Payson of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Leslie (Ben) Crow of Yelm; Carla Thornhill of Niles, Michigan; and Jessica (Albert) Styger of Rainier, Washington. He also is survived by grandchildren, Ashley Dimick (Dave), Alizabeth (Gary) Braee, Christopher (Angelica) Thornhill, Tyler Thornhill, Nichole Fomento, Cayla (Andrew) Vasquez, Benton (Breanna) Crow, Justin Fomento (Brianna), Margaret (Wayne) Klug, Nick Payson; sister-in-law, Wilma Longnecker; brother, Shelton Longnecker; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Longnecker; father, Jesse Longnecker; mother, Sylvia (Ray) Sayer; brothers, Chuck (Bonnie) Longnecker and Gene Longnecker; sisters, Wanda (Garrett) Mays and Barbara (Bill Wise).

 

A celebration of life will take place in August 2024.  Please check back for details.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
