Obituary of Edward Eugene Slemp

Edward Eugene Slemp passed away August 15, 2023, in Olympia, Washington.  He was born July 27, 1940, to Eugene Slemp and Ruby Slemp in Centralia, Washington.  A 35-year resident of Rochester, Washington, he also lived in Napavine, Washington.

 

Ed graduated from Napavine High School in 1958.  He married Gloria Creamer and, later in life, he married Phyllis Schuler in August 1972. He retired from Weyerhaeuser Box Plant as a roll truck driver.

 

Among Ed’s interests and passions were hunting, fishing, camping, watching football, “working on stuff” outside, and watching/feeding the birds. He will be remembered for always saying, “I’m not sleeping, I’m just resting my eyes.”

 

He is survived by his son, Don Richardson of Rochester; daughters, Kim Taylor of Carson, Washington, and Wendy Buchanan of Rochester; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert Slemp of Napavine.  He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis Slemp (January 2016); son, Scott Slemp; mother, Ruby Meyers; stepfather, James Meyers; father, Eugene Slemp; sister, Jennifer Slemp; and stepbrother, Charles Oxford.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, March 10, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at J&S Barn and Farmhouse, 12012 Hunter Loop Road SW, Rochester, WA 98579.
