Jack graduated from La Salle Military Academy in June 1956 and earned a Business Degree from Lehigh University in June 1960.  He attended the University of Washington Graduate Business School.

He served in the U.S. Army from October 1960 to October 1962 at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington, and at “Check Point Charlie” in Berlin, Germany.  He married Mary Gene “Beage” Barnes on October 2, 1965, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Seattle, Washington.

In 1965, Jack started work at the Washington State Legislative Council.  He moved to the State Treasurer’s Office in 1971, eventually becoming Assistant State Treasurer.  In 1981, Jack joined Deloitte & Touche, working in Cash Management.  He moved to MBIA in 1991 as the Vice President of Treasury Services and finished his career as a private financial consultant in 1997.

Jack was a loving husband, father and grandfather, dedicated to his wife, three children and seven grandchildren.  He enjoyed attending every sporting event, music, theater, and dance performance.  He had a strong sense of “service,” volunteering with St. Michael Parish, which he attended, and several community organizations.

Jack and his wife, Beage, were heavily involved with showing and judging roses throughout the Pacific Northwest.  Jack held several positions with the Local, State and National Rose Societies. He also served as the President of the Washington State Senior Games for 20+ years.  He helped thousands of seniors “get off the couch” and grew the games to over 2,000 competitors annually.
