Obituary of Richard Calvin Greenfield

Rick Greenfield died peacefully at home on December 21, 2023, in Olympia, Washington, due to complications of colon cancer and Crohn’s disease. 

 

Rick was born November 15, 1946, and raised in Caldwell/Canyon County, Idaho. He was a graduate of Vallivue (Idaho) High School (1965) and Huston (Idaho) Grade School (1961), and earned his Bachelor of Architecture (B-Arch) from the University of Idaho in 1970.

 

Rick spent his career in city planning and public administration. He worked at Boise Redevelopment Agency/Capital City Development Corporation, serving as Executive Director of CCDC from 1988 to 1999 with the lead role in development of downtown Boise with public garages, streetscape improvements, and pedestrian access. 

 

Rick also worked for the Model Cities program and as a planner in Boise’s Department of Community Development and historic preservation programs. 

 

Rick retired in 1999 and moved to Olympia with his wife, Kris Tucker. In his retirement, Rick worked on his golf swing, renovated their 1919 home, read extensively, and traveled with Kris.

 

Rick is survived by his wife, Kristin Tucker; sister, Glenda Greenfield Bayley (Post Falls, Idaho); twin brother, Rob Greenfield, and sister-in-law, Joyce Greenfield (Caldwell, Idaho); two nieces; two nephews; three great nieces and a great nephew; and other friends and family.
