Genia Sutter

Obituary of Genia Lorrene Sutter

Genia passed away on December 4, 2023, in Centralia, Washington, at the age of 70. She was born to Errold Raymond Sutter Sr. and Gloria Thea Lippy Sutter as they were passing through Chillicothe, Ohio, on April 29, 1953. Young Genia and her beloved older brother, Errold Jr., would proudly recount childhood memories of cross-country travel and social merriments hosted by their parents.

Genia enjoyed traveling, crafting, baking, cheering on sidelines (and via live-stream), and mingling with new faces.  Her greatest love and success was raising her only son, Chad Sutter.  She would later re-discover a new kind of love which was that of being a grandmother/“Baba” to Jack and Cece Sutter.

Her final days were spent in Las Vegas to watch her grandson play football and celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.  She even embarked on zip-lining over the city alongside her family.

She is survived by her only son, Chad Sutter, and his wife, Janice (Balangue), and their children, Jackson Raymond and Cecilia Thea; and sister-in-law, Elaine (Sutter) Nevin. Genia was preceded in death by her father, mother and brother.

Genia will be remembered for her big personality, her never-ending bucket list, and her over-the-top gestures—her signature nod to celebrating life.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, 12:00 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1208 11th Ave. SE, Olympia, WA 98501.  Reception to follow at the church.
