Obituary of Erika Nehren

 Erika Nehren passed away the morning of December 4, 2023, in Olympia, Washington.

 

As a young girl, Erika and her family fled their home during WWII in what is now modern-day Poland to escape the advancing Russian front. They traveled across a war-torn Germany and found passage on the M.S. Anna Salen to Canada, where she and her family worked in the sugar beet fields of southern Alberta throughout her childhood. She married young and worked long hours for most of her adult life to help provide for their family. It wasn’t until the past few weeks that it became clear she’d been battling cancer for quite some time.

 

Her life had plenty of difficulty, but never once did she complain. Never once did her faith in God waver. She was always an example of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and find her joy in Him. So many people were positively impacted by the legacy of prayer, hope, love, and faith she left behind.  

 

Erika is survived by her husband of 65 years, Horst Josef; and by their 63 children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
