During state legislative sessions Rick served as chief lobbyist for ActionDD, an advocacy group for state Residential Habilitation Centers, the people who lived in RHCs and their parents and guardians. His expertise enabled many legislative successes. As a kind and considerate person Rick always took time to explain issues and complications. He had the ability to motivate folks to work problems that seemed insurmountable. I will always appreciate his warmth and generosity. Thank you Rick for your many contributions to the well being of developmentally and intellectually disabled people.

A great guy. He and I worked together on my bill to secure binding arbitration for Troopers, among other things. I was so very sorry to hear of Rick's passing, and all my best to those who survive him.

Please accept our prayers. Both Hilary and I were blessed by Rick's presence in our lives. He was an early mentor in my career, providing great counsel and support in my career. Please know how much Rick did for Hilary and myself.

What a great guy who will be missed by many. I knew Rick as a trooper, as deputy chief, as a fellow lobbyist, as a Manzanillo winter resident, but most importantly, as a good friend and all around great guy. One of my favorite memories took place each winter in Manzanillo. Rick had a really big bowl on the table of the condo he rented. It was about half full of little two-packs of Chiclets that he kept adding to. He couldn't resist buying all the Chiclets from the children who were selling them on the beach, and he would bring them home and dump them in the bowl. It was completely full by the time he left. I asked him what he would do with all those Chiclets. He chuckled and said, "I'll give them back to the kids to sell on the beach." I often wondered how many of the Chiclets he bought each season were from the batch he gave back at the end of last season. Still makes me smile.
I hope he is busy catching up with my Bill and Sim Wilson up there. Oh my! The mischief they could create together.
Hugs to Kathy and family. My heart cries for you.
