Obituary of Rachel Westbrook

On November 8, 2023, Rachel died peacefully in her sleep at the home of a friend in Olympia, Washington.

She is survived by her parents, Ed and Lenora Westbrook, of Lilliwaup, Washington; and her sister, Sarah Wright, and her husband, Charles, of Beaverton, Oregon.

Rachel was born on December 20, 1984, in Rock Springs, Wyoming.   Growing up, she lived with her family in Portland, Oregon, moving to Olympia in 2000.  She attended Bridlemile and DaVinci Arts schools in Portland and graduated from Olympia High School in 2003.  Rachel attended college at South Puget Sound Community College and Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana—interrupted by Hurricane Katrina.  After returning to Olympia, she worked in several restaurants in the area.

Rachel was a gifted writer and artist.  She loved music, books and drawing, and had a sharp wit and amazing memory.   She was smart, creative and thoughtful, Rachel had a good heart—generous and caring—to help out whenever she could.

Rest in Peace, Dear Rachel. Your personal struggles with mental illness and addiction are over.

A gathering to remember Rachel will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, 2:00-4:00 p.m. at South Sound Manor, 455 North St. SE, Tumwater, WA 98501.
