Sean O'Leary

Obituary of Sean Christopher O'Leary

Sean Christopher O’Leary passed away August 15, 2023, in Tumwater, Washington, his home of eight years.  Tragically, he was involved in a pedestrian-vehicle collision, causing multiple blunt force injuries.

Sean was born June 1, 1973, to Daniel and Marie E. O’Leary in Ellensburg, Washington. He graduated from Olympia’s William Winlock Miller High School in 1991 and attended South Puget Sound Community College. He worked in the Thurston County grocery industry, starting with Fred Meyer, followed by years at Trader Joe’s, and most recently as manager for Safeway.

Sean was first and foremost a very loving and devoted father to his sons, Ryan and Logan O’Leary, as well as a fun-loving and loyal friend to many in the community.  He loved eating and cooking barbecue, which he shared with many friends and family.  His main hobby was playing drums, starting with weekly lessons in elementary school.  His first paying gig was when he was a junior in high school.  Over the years, he played in many local blues and rock bands.

Sean is survived by his parents (of Olympia); sons (of Olympia), Logan O’Leary and Ryan O’Leary-Holm (WSU student); and special friend (of Olympia), Sarah Holm, mother of Ryan. In addition, Sean is survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins residing throughout Puget Sound.

A Celebration of Life will take place starting at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at South Sound Manor, 455 North St. SE, Tumwater, WA 98501.
