Obituary of Kaylee Ann Knight

Kaylee Ann “Kayden” Knight of Lacey, Wash., age 24, passed away peacefully with a room full of family and friends at her side at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Wash., on Friday, September 22, 2023. Kaylee was born at the same hospital on Wednesday, June 23, 1999.

She is survived by her mother, Amy Knight of Lacey; father, Jeremy Knight of Tumwater, Wash.; sister, Ashley Knight (18) of Lacey; grandparents, Arthur and Frances Wiedenmann of Lacey, and Kerry and Virlene Knight of Lacey; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Additionally, she is survived by her precious beagle, Calli Rae. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Debbie Wiedenmann of Lacey.

Kaylee attended grade school in the North Thurston Public School District and graduated from Rainier High School (Rainier School District, Wash.) in 2017. In her school years, she worked as a gymnastics coach and enjoyed playing basketball.

At the age of 17, she began a career of service, volunteering for Bald Hills Fire District 17 and Southeast Thurston County Fire District 2. She graduated valedictorian of her EMT class 2017-2, became a Firefighter 1, and was nationally recognized for her top score on the academy final. She also received the Engine Company Award. She became a Wildland Firefighter 2 and fought fires throughout the state. She also worked for Olympic Ambulance. Kaylee was the youngest student in her paramedic class, becoming a nationally-certified paramedic, working with Grays Harbor Fire District 5 as a Firefighter Paramedic. She later worked as a paramedic for American Medical Response (AMR) out of Fife and Tacoma, Wash. She was also a Patient Care Tech for Davita Dialysis of Tumwater.

Kaylee volunteered as the head basketball coach for her church’s Mega Sports Camp, and volunteered at Camp Blaze, a fire camp for young women. Kaylee loved to fish, visiting national parks, and taking her beagle to dog parks. She was her little sister’s biggest cheerleader, always encouraging her and showing her love. She had a heart of gold, a wonderful sense of humor, and a smile and laugh that filled a room, making it a better place when she left it - just like she left our world. She was well known to be a compassionate care provider, often connecting with difficult patients that other care providers could not. Most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Capital Christian Center, 4431 Martin Way E, Olympia, WA 98516.
