Obituary of Edith Joy Pill

Edith Joy Pill passed away August 18, 2023, in Olympia, Washington, her home of 70 years.  She was born August 17, 1928, to Fred and Elsie Dangerfield in Port Angeles, Washington.

 

Edie graduated from Port Angeles High School and Western Washington University with a degree in Education.  She was an elementary school teacher in the Olympia School District and also worked for School Daze in Olympia.

 

She married James Pill on September 15, 1951, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Port Angeles.

 

Edie loved her pets and cherished her friendships. She loved cats, gardening, Zumba, UW Huskies, Seattle Mariners, Green Bay Packers, and People Magazine. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.

 

She is survived by her identical twin sister, Doreen (Dangerfield) Gilbert of Seattle; nieces, Nancy Gilbert (husband, Doug) of Seattle, and Kathleen Segai (husband, Greg) of Shelton, Washington.  She was predeceased by her parents and husband.

 

A service will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 114 20th Ave. SE, Olympia, WA 98507. Memorial donations in Edie’s honor may be made to the Thurston County Humane Society.
