Obituary of Robert Eugene Bruner

Robert Eugene Bruner was born February 3, 1930, in Terre Haute, Indiana.  He died on March 17, 2023, under the expert care of Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington.

Bob spent most of his working life as an International Representative of The Newspaper Guild (currently the News Guild, CWA).  He worked in many cities, organizing Guild units, negotiating contracts, and was an Administrative Officer of the Boston Guild local.  He was the founder and original leader of the New England Servicing and Organizing Program and served as an Administrator of the Seattle Newspaper Guild.  He retired from The Newspaper Guild in 1992.

In retirement, Bob continued to be an avid reader, remodeled his house, and followed his hobby of building and flying radio-controlled model airplanes at flying club fields and, his favorite, on the beach at the ocean.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Kathleen, and his children, Jennifer Bruner of Seattle; Rebecca Adcock of Winterville, North Carolina; Lisa Herald (spouse, Michael) of Terre Haute, Indiana; and Michael Bruner (spouse, Cynthia) of Mascoutah, Illinois.  He is also survived by his brother, Richard Bruner (spouse, Karen) of Terre Haute, and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Donations in his honor may be made to the Thurston County Food Bank or the Thurston County Humane Society.
