Obituary of Patricia Mae Smith

Patricia Mae “Patty” Smith passed away December 27, 2021, in McCleary, Washington.  She was born August 24, 1948, to Sherley E. and Beverly (Burnette) Boursaw in Newberry, Michigan. Over the years, she also lived in the Washington cities of Doty, Pe Ell, Chehalis, and Centralia; and Arlington, Oregon.

 

Patty graduated from Arlington High School.  She married Paul Pilz on August 15, 1981, in Doty.  She married George Rod Smith on November 10, 1990, in Pe Ell; he passed away in February 2021.

 

She worked at Jack’s in Pe Ell, Dairy Bar in Chehalis, and had her own business of housekeeping and sewing alterations. She loved to cook, clean, sew, do crafts, play guitar, and sing, especially gospel songs.

 

Patty loved helping people and serving Jesus, who she loved most of all.  She always attended church and had a nursing home ministry.

 

She is survived by her son, Tom Boursaw; daughter, Tammy (Pilz) Ashlock, and her husband, Joe Ashlock; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husband, Rod Smith (February 2021); former husband, Paul Pilz (December 1991); parents, Sherley and Beverly Boursaw; brother, Timothy Boursaw; and sister, Marie “Squeek” Boursaw.

 

Services will be held July 9, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at Doty Assembly of God, Fowler Road, Doty, WA 98539.
