Obituary of Sue Bergerson

Sue Bergerson, born April 9, 1955, to Donald and Geraldine (Dawson) Hill in Anchorage, Alaska, died peacefully on January 12, 2022, at Alexandra’s Home in Olympia, Washington, after a lengthy battle with Huntington’s Disease. Sue was kind, generous, fun-loving, and creative.  She loved quilting, art, movies, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. She was an avid shopper and a tremendous gift giver!

Sue was an entrepreneur and businesswoman through and through. She earned a business degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. After earning her degree, she returned to Anchorage and co-founded Dimensions Plus, a clothing store with her sister Dona Hill, where they established a strong customer base and life-long friendships. Later, she pursued her passion for quilting, and founded Quilt Works, which quickly became a hub for quilters near and far in search of quilting fabric galore, inspiring classes, and knowledgeable, like-minded staff.  Sue also franchised a Powerhouse Gym in Anchorage shortly after she began body building and competing. Sue truly exemplified the maxim: do what you love and love what you do.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris Bergerson; sister, Dona; parents, Donald and Geraldine; grandparents, Harry and Elsie Hill; and mother-in-law, Lois Bergerson. Sue is survived by her sons, Michael Bergerson and James Maloney; brother, Harry Hill; and a network of friends and business associates. A huge thank you to Diane Baker whose compassionate care, positive energy, and adoption of Sue’s golden retriever, Brinkley, brought great comfort to Sue and her family during her final years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Huntington’s Disease Society of America or to a charity of your choice.
