Diane Brooks

Obituary of Diane Marie Brooks

Diane Marie Brooks passed away November, 21, 2020, in Chehalis, Washington, her home of 40 years. Diane was born January 17, 1952, in Olympia, Washington, the youngest of six children born to Helen and Harry Larson. She was a graduate of Olympia High School in 1970. Diane studied to be a medical assistant and worked in a clinic and did very well.  In 1976, she received an opportunity to work for Social Security, transferred from Olympia to Chehalis in 1978, and retired in 2002.

Diane was married to and divorced from John Knecht; they had two children. In 1980, she met the love of her life, Dennis Charles Brooks, and had one more child.  Unfortunately, she became a widow in 2005.

Diane had a love to be outdoors.  She was an avid gardener. She grew many roses and could name them all.  She also grew vegetables and canned for many years. Diane raised her children camping and rock hounding.  She loved a good clam tide. Diane was a wonderful cook and loved to bake.  She was a very talented seamstress. If you were to go to her house, you would see her love for cats and be surrounded by her bunny collection; there was always a game show to be had on TV.

Diane was very faithful to her Catholic religion, seldom missing church.  She also liked to volunteer at the Lewis County Gospel Mission.

She was very thoughtful, and never forgot a special date. She had a good sense of humor, was very witty, and always loved a good pun.

Diane is survived by her children, Jake Knecht, Cara Myers (Bryon Myers), and Amy Brooks; six grandkids, Nolan, Nate, Eryn, Nicole, Jenna and Jackson; a great grandson, Laynelong; and three of her five siblings.

A funeral and mass will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 157 SW 6th St., Chehalis, WA 98532.
