Chris was my friend. I lived at the top of the hill on Buechel Drive near Delaware, Ohio. I was what you would today be called a Nerd. Chris would not let any one threaten or tease me. Chris was a large, and in appearance, a scary figure at Buckeye Valley High. He made it clear on several occasions that if you had an issue with Mitch you had a problem with him first.
Chris and i spent many lazy youthful hours sitting on the dock on the Scioto River in front of Chris's house. I lived three houses up the street and my family shared a large metal dock with Chris's dad.
Chris had no boundaries. Chris was a friend to my Dad. Chris would bring up his Datsun and his Karman Ghia for Dad to work on. They would spend hours tinkering on cars in front of our house. I remember leaving Chris and Dad when I would drive away for a date. Neither of them noticed my departure. When I told Dad that Chris had died, my father cried like he had lost a friend even though he had not seen Chris in 40 years. Chris was the guy that you thought would always be around. That is a lesson that I learned from Chris. Keep your friends close. In the end, that's all yo will have.

There isn't enough room in an obituary to describe who Chris really was. He always gave a handicap to someone he thought he could beat in a game. He was unselfish like that, he would want you to have the same chance to win as he did.
He loved statistics. On any given week Chris would work on some type of statistical outcome. This helped to make him good at his job.
Chris loved to sit out on the lake at night cat fishing, or just to listen to the frogs. He told me a story once about a time he went frogging. He caught a big bull frog and held it in his hand to cut off the legs. He thought the frog was such a beautiful creature he was saddened that he killed it. Chris wasn't a hunter, he loved nature.
Chris never raised his voice, not even when he was angry. He had to be the most patient and kind man I ever met.
Chris received the Barren award while going to high school at Buckeye Valley. He was considered the most valuable football player that year. What was odd is that Chris was second string on the team, but he made the most of his position and helped the entire team throughout the year by giving of himself. Chris was like that throughout his life. He was always the hard worker, the one who would pull their own weight and yours too.
It's hard to say goodbye to him, he was the love of my life.

Thank you for always being there when advice was needed. You were never to busy for a chat, or a game of chess. Thank you for being a Grandfather to my children. They will forever remember you taking them fishing, four-wheeling down by the creek, and to Austins favorite restaurant Bob Evans (Bob Evans is the place for me, Farm Fresh food for you and me). No words can describe how much you will be missed by us.

Chris was a wonderful man and he was a great father figure. He always seemed to know how to put a smile on your face. He was warm and welcoming and a solid shoulder to lean on. I will miss his jokes, the made up songs he would sing with my mom, and his warm smile. I wish I could have had more time with him in this world, but I am grateful for the time I did get. Thank you for having been a part of my life, I will miss you always.
