Obituary of Lynn Marie Melton

Lynn Marie Melton, 54, passed away of a pulmonary embolism on June 13, 2019 in Olympia, Washington, where she was born November 1, 1964 to Stan and Sharon Melton.

Lynn graduated from Capital High School in 1982, and earned an AA from Centralia Community College, and BA in Accounting from Western Washington University in 1986.  Her first job out of college was in payroll at Evergreen Christian Center, followed by payroll at South Puget Sound Community College, beginning March 1994, and then System Payroll Coordinator for the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, beginning in January 2000.

Lynn was a dedicated Christian and member of Westwood Baptist Church.  She was very loving and always available to help.  She taught quilting, scrapbooking, violin and piano. She had a good sense of humor, was loyal, and had many friends.

Music was a great love in Lynn’s life.  She played violin in the Rainier Symphony Orchestra and Olympia Symphony Orchestra, and served on the board of both organizations.  Lynn wanted to be a “cool aunt,” and according to her brother, she was “undisputedly the best aunt of the year.”  Lynn’s co-workers remember her for her endless patience and understanding, her great mentoring skills, and quick wit.

She is survived by her parents, Stan and Sharon Melton of Olympia; brother, Brett D. Melton, his wife, Lisa, and their children, Amelia and Elizabeth of Kirkland, Washington; and sister, Kimberley Hurley, her husband, John, and their daughters, Marquette and Grace of Tumwater, Washington.
