Dear Peter,
We vividly remember five years ago when we sat with you and Cynthia at the 50th reunion of NAT.
She was a remarkable person, a very giving person. She devoted her life to music and to helping others.
I didn't know her very well on the tour, but I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her in the reunions.
She will remain in our thoughts.
As ever,
Willy White

I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Cynthia's passing She was a very important part of my life. We used to spend hours together with me mostly pouring out teenage agonies over family, boys (mostly the lack there of)
To spend hours on a Saturday up in her bedroom discussing teenage agonies and our futures. We lost touch in college which I regret.
Aside from her brilliant mind, her dedication to social causes made a real difference in the world. It's interesting that two CT Yankees wound up living in the Pacific NW.
My deep condolences to you and your family.

FYI. I had on impulse emailed Cynthia in March. She said she was undergoing treatment but was hopeful she would get to the northeast for their usual summer visit when Karim and I would be there as well.
Cynthia and I lived in the same neighborhood of South Glastonbury Connecticut. We attended the same excellent school system from elementary to high school. It was a short walk up the hill to reach her family home. We shared many wonderful adventures in the early years - the Brownie Troop, car pooling to activities, going to the family summer home on a vacation, attending the Camp Aya-Po. Cynthia was always loving and a high achiever.
Cynthia was the editor-in-chief of the class of '62 yearbook and the class valedictorian - that so many decades ago!
In the March email, she mentioned she was receiving treatment and we did catch up regarding family and current activities. She and Peter were active in social justice projects and issues - all most commendable.
Cynthia and I discussed a face-to-face visit in New England this summer. I am sad that this will not happen.
Always loving, Cynthia's passing is a sad outcome for family and the friends she has made in Washington State and all she has had over past years.
Karim and I send condolences and love to Peter and the children and family. As stated, a life well lived.
Best wishes to all,
Ann Bragdon

I am devastated by the loss of Cynthia. She was so vital to our church Immigrant and Refugee Covenant Group. There's a huge hole in our mission now. It will never be totally filled, but we will work on with tears. She met challenges with a smile, and made difficult work seem easy.

I have written my condolences in some other ways, but want to share my sadness in the death of Cynthia Cook. She was truly an amazing woman. Strong and gentle, very bright but patient with others, assertive but not aggressive. She preferred to avoid conflict, but was willing to speak truth to power, even if there were negative consequences. She was trustworthy, kind, dedicated, committed to social justice, and a wonderful friend.
I deeply appreciate her leadership and support at the the United Churches of Olympia, where she used her numerous skills in many ways. Just a few of them were being Church Moderator, singing in the choir, being the church bookkeeper, and most recently her work on Immigrant/Refugee Justice. She continued to provide encouragement and guidance to the Immigrant/Refugee Covenant Group up until 6 weeks before her death. I loved Cynthia and was honored to call her my friend.

This news saddens me and our community at CIELO. Cynthia was a volunteer in our homework club supporting students with their reading and math. She was so helpful and came with so much passion to help our community. We will miss Cynthia very much. May god bless her for eternity. Que dios bendiga a su familia. La vamos a extrañar.

Peter ads family,
Please know how saddened Char and I are to learn of Cynthia’s passing. She was an amazing person, gifted singer and my tenor partner in the TUCO choir.
I remember very distinctly our years-ago introductory who-are-you, tell-each-other about ourselves, conversation, and chatting delightfully about her playing the chimes at the MTA’s MIT stop during her courting days- a place we had visited years ago!
Cynthia Was a treasure in our lives and we will miss her greatly.

Cynthia was a wonderful loving woman, my wife and my best friend. She was intelligent, intrepid, World Class, musical, a planner and a great mother/grandmother. She lived a full life and we were blessed to have her as long as we did.
I know that she inspired many people and was still surprised by the number of people who loved and respected her in Olympia and the World.
Peter
