Obituary of Albert Roth Price

Albert Roth Price, 83, passed away October 20, 2018 in Olympia, Washington, his home since 1991.  He was born February 3, 1935 to John O’Connell Price and Eleanor Roth Price in St. Louis, Missouri, where he lived until 1960. Over the years, Al also lived in Oakland, California (1960-1971), Fresno, California (1971-1973), and Issaquah, Washington (1973-1991).

He graduated from University City High School in 1953, from the University of Missouri in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and later completed post graduate work at University of California Berkley in Engineering.  He married Judy Marie Schroeder on March 4, 1961 in San Francisco, California.  He later married Judith Klinger on December 21, 1992 in Fiji.

Al served in the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command (SAC) from 1961 to 1965 under Gen. Curtis LeMay.  In the early 1960s, Al was the only airman in Northern California who had clearance to transport nuclear missiles during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  After the service, Al worked for Rucker Corporation (1965-1971); Selma Manufacturing (1971-1973); and Wilson-Price Northwest, a manufacturing representative company for construction equipment (1973-2008).

Al enjoyed life, was a lifelong learner, loved animals, the arts and had a fabulous sense of humor.  He was a man of action, always on the move.  He had an unconditional love for those close to him.  He loved ice cream and always knew where there was a good restaurant. He enjoyed gardening, photography, camping, fishing, cooking, woodworking, sailing, antique cars, and anything mechanical.

Al was a world traveler many times over.  Some of his favorite travels were to Fiji, St. Petersburg, France, Israel, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Egypt, Alaska, Canada, Norway, Copenhagen, Tanzania Africa, Egypt, Finland, London, Mexico, Sweden, and Prague.

Al was goal-oriented.  He knew he wanted children from a very young age and he decided what age he’d like to be when he married, had children, and owned his own business.  He then went on to achieve those goals.  It was evident to those who knew him that his greatest love in life was his two daughters.  There was never a question, they always knew they’d been blessed beyond measure with the best, most amazing father who ever lived.  From the moment each of them came into the world, he made many sacrifices for them, he never failed them, he always had time for them, and he was always there for them.  Always.  He is and always will be missed by many.

He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Elizabeth Price of Auburn, Washington; and sister, Eleanor Price Lloyd of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; as well as nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his daughter, Daphne Price Nys; parents; brother, John O’Connell Price Jr.; and sister, Patricia Ann Price.
