Carolyn Sartore

Obituary of Carolyn Sartore

Carolyn, 57, passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2018.  She was born May 29, 1961 in Santa Rosa, California. Her family relocated to the Seattle area when she was two years old.  She graduated from Overlake School in Redmond, Washington, in 1979.

After high school, Carolyn worked for the Seattle Public Defender’s office in the Smith Tower. She loved her job, being a part of helping the less fortunate.  Carolyn had a devastating accident in the 1990s, resulting in mobility issues.  Despite the challenges imposed, she maintained a positive spirit, always upbeat and gregarious.  Carolyn had a good heart; she worked with caretaking physically challenged people and senior citizens.

Carolyn had a ubiquitous passion for books, reading, writing poems and journaling. She even engaged her own “Carolyn’s Gratitude Book.”   She wrote frequently about Tibetan Buddhism, its purpose to relieve all suffering, and the pursuit of love and happiness.  Carolyn loved all things animal, volunteering frequently for Animal Services in Kent, smothering her kitty Lucy with love and toys.  Carolyn had a true love of music, journaling for pages of specific artists, specifically violinist, Lucia Micarelli.  Many references of Miguel Ruiz’s writings led her down a permanent path of the pursuit of happiness based on Toltec wisdom.  Carolyn’s mantra in life was “Always seek out happiness.”

Carolyn is survived by her son, Taylor Hain; daughter, Michaela Marken; one grandchild; sisters, Katie Baker and Nancy Farman; brothers, Jon Baker and Henry Baker; and four nephews.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life is pending.
