Robert Varpness

Obituary of Robert Lynn Varpness

Robert Lynn Varpness was born September 27, 1960 in Glasgow, Montana. On October 10, 2018, Robby went into the light surrounded by many loved ones in Olympia, Washington.

Like a Norwegian Viking, Robby was a born fisherman. He enjoyed his work and wouldn’t have changed it or traded it for the world; he was a wild man with a heart of gold. He enjoyed the water and lush forests. He could and did live off the land ever since he was a teenager. He was full of life and laughter, even in the hard times and through the struggles. Sunshine and salt water were his favorite places to organize his fishing business. Robby was very intelligent and a math wiz with a memory like a dolphin.

He was generous with his children, they were his life and encouragement. Family and friends were his hope and strength. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Riches were not important and he always said that money is to spend.  Living life to the fullest with gusto, there was never a dull moment when he was around. He’s left an empty space in our hearts. Our lives will never be the same without him. Robby was an exceptional baseball player, his team went to the world championship, he loved sports!

Robby was preceded in death by his father, Vaughn Lee Varpness. He is survived by his loving wife, Grace Varpness; his beloved mother, Betty Varpness; sister, Vicki Moore (Walt Moore); brother, Vaughn Alan Varpness (Ann Varpness); his beloved sons, Robert V. Varpness (Catherine), Dustin Varpness, Zachary Varpness and Eric Price; his grandchildren, Aaliyah, Marcus, Aaron, Sarah, Macey, ShayLee, Mariam, Steven, Jacob; Aunt Donna, Uncle Dallas, many nieces, nephews, cousins; and tons of Fisherman Friends.
