Obituary of Don Vandal

Don Vandal passed away of lung cancer on July 12, 2018 in Centralia, Wash., where he was born July 13, 1948 to Dave and Lu Vandal.  He was one day short of turning 70. 

Don graduated in 1966 from WF West High School in Chehalis, Wash.  He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966 to 1975. He was very proud of being in the Marine Corps and serving his country in the Vietnam War.  After the Marine Corps, he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic.  Don loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, and was a fan of the Mariners and Seahawks.  He belonged to the American Legion, Eagles, Moose and Masons.

He is survived by his son, Donny Vandal, wife Nichole, and their children, Cody, Morgan, Caitland and Rachelle; daughter, Tracy Hansen, husband Chris, and their children, Kelsi Erb, Kolby, Caleb and Talia; daughter, Teri Bryant, husband Rick, and their children, Tyler and Jordan; former wife, Debbie Haugh; and special niece, Cheyenne Vandal.  He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, David, Dennis and Greg Vandal.

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 24, 2018, 12:30 p.m. at Claquato Cemetery. A gathering to share food and memories of Don will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Centralia American Legion, 111 ½ Main St., Centralia 98531.
