Obituary of Helmut F. Bauer

Helmut F. Bauer passed away July 14, 2018 in Tumwater, Washington, at age 87.  He was born November 9, 1930, in Wurzburg, Germany, where he lived until 1956 when he moved to Dallas, Texas.  He lived and worked in Texas for many years.  Eventually he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah.  In 1968, he made his final move to Olympia, Washington.

Helmut earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University in Wurzburg, and married Erika Siebenburger on December 12, 1953 in Wurzburg.  Professionally, he was Vice President of Systems and Services at Sunset Life Insurance Company.

Helmut loved visiting with friends, gardening, collecting stamps and coins, volunteering, playing with the grandkids, and doing the chicken dance.  He was a fun loving, caring, and generous man.  His favorite saying was, “Relax, enjoy and celebrate every day of your life because you will be dead a lot longer than you will be alive” and he lived his life that way.

He is survived by his son, Chris (Kim); daughter-in-law, Jill Bauer; five grandchildren, Amy Wood, Alexis Freeto, Jackson Bauer, Ava Bauer, Lily Bauer; and three great grandchildren, Rieley Wood, Cheyenne Wood and Braxton Freeto.  Those who predeceased him were his wife, Erika Bauer; and son, Frank Bauer.
