Ruth and Joe each worked along side Sjored for years...Ruth as Hospice RN, and Joe as Hospice Social Worker. Sjored was a great asset, knew how to perform in concert with Team Members and in behalf patients and families. He was a caring professional always, and always a gentleman. We were sad to hear of his medical issues and sadder still to know he has “left the building” so to speak. We knew the loss of his Sweetheart was difficult especially given the length of their relationship. This quality man and professional practitioner richly deserves that reunion he is no doubt engaged in even today. Bon Voyage trusted friend...

I was privileged to work with Sjoerd after he joined Providence Hospice. Years later he helped me cope with my father's terminal illness. His sincere interest and understanding during that time helped me to continue caring my father. My sincerest condolences to his family.

I was privileged to work with Sjoerd for the last 5 years of his career at Providence Hospice. His presence with patients and there families was a blessing to people in their darkest times.
He was a man of great grace and I pray his family will be comforted by the memories of Sjoerd.
God’s peace to you who loved him most.

It was my privilege to work with Sjoerd during his Providence Hospice years. He was generous with his time and talents. He brought his essential calming spirit that was so necessary as we continually grew the population of people served. He positively touched the lives not only of those people we served but fellow colleagues. He replenished his spirit with family time. On the morning of his 65th birthday Melissa snuck into our office about 7:30AM with a bouquet of flowers. Nurse Maggie and I told Melissa which desk was Sjoerd’s and she placed the flowers and card with such mischievous glee. She made her escape without her father detecting her. Sjoerd arrived just prior to 8 AM. Maggie and I watched as he opened the note card. A wave of love poured over him generating his customary smile. This was before everyone could capture these moments on a phone and my words do not adequately capture this event. We knew we were privileged by his love and that he loved his family with his whole being. Sadly, I am out of state on the day of his memorial service. Please know that I will hold you in my heart not only on that day but in the days to come. Peace and Love, Denis Ganey, MSW
