I am really sad to hear of Joe's passing. He was my cousin and our families were closely connected. Joe was such a good friend to my Dad and his Mother and Father were lifesavers for me and a few of my brothers. I was very grateful to connect with Joe later in life and see him again. His wife Carol and his family were the most important thing in Joe's life and that was clear. Well, Heaven got another Angel and Joe you can see the many family members that went before you. xxoo

Dad,
I met the Duffy clan back in 2002, and you and Mom greeted me with open arms and hearts! You were the best father-in-law any girl could ask for, and I am so blessed for the time I had with you!
You loved Mom as a man should, and raised your children as best as any man could. You are so dearly loved by your children, grand children, great grand children, and so many other members of the family and community. We all love you so much and miss you even more!
Peggy Sue
P.S. I'm gonna kiss you now! (I told that to Dad in the hospital one time and kissed him on the cheek. It kind of became our thing!)

Joe Duffy.....A fine young man when we served together jn Korea (1950-51); but who I got to know better many years later attending a reunion of the "Chosin Few." Joe was one of the few survivors of the 7th Infantry division's participation in that battle. The nature of that experience left many understandably reticent to say much if anything about that campaign. But as I got to know Joe better (and his lovely wife Carol), it became a pleasure along with the great respect I developed for a guy who had been an outstanding young soldier; and now a well loved and respected husband and father. While our times together were some vacations together and occasional visits, these along with so many other memories will keep Joe Duffy front and center in my memory. Rest in peace pal, you were a hell of a guy...…

Grampa, where do I start? You have been a part of our lives for so long and have been so instrumental in shaping all of our lives (more than I think you really ever knew)! Holidays throughout the years were the best at yours and gramma's house. From playing volleyball and/or badminton on your side yard to fireworks in the front yard, to dessert pigouts in the dining room, to Thanksgiving and xmas eve/day dinners, to sitting in the front room around the xmas tree opening presents, to listening to you play the harmonica, to hearing you recite trivia facts, to playing Michigan rummy, to sitting and watching you answer jeopardy questions, to snagging a piece of candy from your stash on the hutch, to listening to you laugh/grunt like Tim the Tool Man (Tim Allen), to grabbing a soda can out of the garage for you, to going skiing up at White Pass, to going to running races all over the PNW, to watching and learning how to draw cartoon characters from you, to listening to your war stories, to seeing you at any of our sporting events, to always giving you a hug and kiss as we leave, to hearing your quick wit comments (i.e. sufficiently sophonsified), to seeing your almanacs by the TV and how you could recite SO many facts, to seeing football on in the background or Macy's day parades, to seeing how talented your are at woodwork, to seeing your love for your dogs, to gramma making us a Turkey sandwich hours after eating a holiday dinner, to black Friday shopping, to mother's day and father's day breakfasts at the park, to birthday parties at Dirty Dave's, to xmas breakfast the first week of Dec to kick off the xmas season, to seeing pictures from all of your cool vacations, to seeing you in all of your awesome hats/outfits (and yes, YOU make the hats/clothes look good, not the clothes make you look good), to hearing how it's the Duffy in us that makes us who we are, to just sitting around your table and enjoying small talk...Love you so much Grampa and you will continue to be instrumental in all of our lives and will be missed dearly! ❤❤ Love, Julie

Dad,
I miss you so much. I will always be thinking of you, you mean so much to me.
A kid couldn’t have asked for anything more. We had a lot of good times. All of the family get togethers. Going camping. Boating. So many great memories.
I love you Dad, thank you for everything.

Wow, what a life Joe has led! I could relate to Joe's service in Korea as that is where my father fought during the same time. He also met my mother at a dance in Olympia during the same time, and who knows, maybe they knew each other and were good friends.
I always found comfort in the following, especially after I lost my parents. I hope it brings the same comfort to Joe's family and friends.
"When you remember me, it means that you have carried something of who I am with you- that I have left some mark of who I am on who you are. It means that even after I die, you can still see my face and speak to me in your heart. For as long as you remember me, I am never entirely lost".
All my sympathies, thoughts and prayers go out to both family and friends.

Dad,
My heart is broken with your passing. Memories of the great experiences we shared (camping, boating, trips, casino's, the list keeps going) will remain with me forever. Thank you for teaching me so much about life, values, the importance of family and how to buy a car. You always have been greatest supporter and I can never thank you for how that touched my heart
You will forever be missed! Love you Daddy!
