Obituary of Betty Bergren

Betty Bergren, 94, passed away April 11, 2014 at Mother Joseph Care Center, after a brief illness. A longtime resident of the Olympia and Tumwater area, she had recently been a resident at Capital Place Retirement Community. Betty was born December 4, 1919, in Tenino, Washington, and was married to Elmer Bergren on March 10, 1939, in Chehalis, Washington. Together they raised six children. She had 16 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren. Betty was a skilled seamstress, making beautiful clothes for herself and others. She also loved gardening, growing wonderful vegetables and beautiful flowers. She always knew the name of every flower and shrub, especially all of her amazing roses. She also lovingly cared for 18 foster children over the course of seven years. She was a longstanding member of the Seventh Day Adventist church. Betty is survived by her children, Joan Bunch if Vancouver, Washington, Peggy Chambers of Yakima, Washington, Jim Bergren of Harlowton, Montana, Dee Bergren-Hall of Olympia, and Terry Bergren of Kennesaw, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmer; daughter, Judy Mulligan; brother, Claude Misner; and her parents, George and Winnie Misner.
