Obituary of Gloria Jean Belarde

Gloria, 64, of Olympia, Washington, passed away peacefully in her home on April 24, 2014, with family by her side, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 6, 1950 in Grand Junction, Colorado, to Ruben Belarde and Mary O. Sweeney. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Griffin J. Sweeney; and two older brothers, Rudy and Danny Belarde. She is survived by her brother, Michael; three sisters, Linda, Margie and Phyllis; her son, Anthony (Michelle); two daughters, Lisa and Monica; and five grandchildren, Meagan, Tyte, Kourtney, Zarea and Karson. Gloria worked for the Postal Service for 35 years. She was a tireless advocate for workers’ rights, being involved in the Union as a shop steward and vice president.
