Marles Bednar

Obituary of Marles Irene Bednar

Marles was born June 1, 1934 in Riverton, Minnesota, to Roland and Blanche (Dobson) McGuire. She passed away July 25, 2014 at her home in Yelm, Washington, at the age of 80. Professionally, Marles worked as a pharmacy tech, although her roles as wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother were the joy of her life. Marles had an unparalleled generosity of spirit, and loved helping others. She also had significant dedication to the most holy Rosary. Marles was an avid book reader, and enjoyed going to all the latest movie releases. To the delight of her extended family, she was known for her outstanding cooking and baking, especially her melt-in-your-mouth pineapple upside-down cake, the best batter fried wild-caught fish dinners, her layered “takes-all-day-to-make” macaroni salad, and her knock out margaritas. Marles will also be remembered for her sayings; for example, when describing hot weather, she’d say, “It’s a cooker today!” Marles is survived by her husband, James H. Bednar of Yelm; son, Mark J. Bednar (Ramona) of McKenna, Washington; daughters, Lisa M. Bednar-Butler (Michael) of Allyn, Washington, and Pamela C. McCord (Tony) of Federal Way, Washington; grandsons, Zachary Hegtvedt of Kirkland, Washington, Cody Bednar of Eureka, California, Brandin Bednar of Seattle, Washington, and Travis Bednar of Cheyenne, Wyoming; granddaughters, Melinda (Kyle) Sidor of Puyallup, Washington, and Bria McCord of Federal Way, Washington; great-granddaughter, Isla Marie Sidor; sisters, Barbara Broselle of Vancouver, Washington, Shirley Barto of Brainerd, Minnesota, and Patty Treichler of Salem, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and brother, Roland “Mickey” McGuire. Please leave memories of Marles or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
