Renee Basher

Obituary of Renee Catherine Basher

Renee was a loving wife, lover, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She passed away October 31, 2013 in Tacoma, Washington, at age 67. She was born October 4, 1946 to Reid Ponton and Mauraine Sims in Tacoma. She attended St. Ann’s Elementary, Stewart Junior High, and graduated from Lincoln High School. In addition to living in Tacoma, she lived in south central Alaska (1972-1986), Arizona, and the past 16 years in Yelm, Washington. Renee married Patrick M. Basher, Sr. on August 10, 1967. She was a homemaker who worked as a Rent-a-Mom from 1974 to 1981. She loved to dance, being female, and walking on ocean beaches for hours. She also enjoyed cooking, riding snow mobiles and four-wheelers, skiing cross country, and reading. She served as vice president and secretary of the Nisqually Pines Homeowners Association, and was a member of Yelm’s St. Columbian Church. Of everything Renee loved, her family took top place. She loved spoiling her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter, Ryliegh (Roo), the latest sparkle in her eye. She focused on each one individually as only she could do. Growing up, her cousins Peggy, Mel and Leslie were her sisters and brothers; she loved them and later their children as well. She also dearly loved Buttons, Bob and their children, as well as all nine brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Renee’s heart wasn’t big enough for all the love she needed and wanted to give. We will miss her beyond words. Renee is survived by her husband, Patrick M. Basher, Sr.; son, Patrick M. Basher, Jr.; daughters, Denise C. Small and Shawnene M. Jones; grandchildren, Nathan Basher, Patrick Small, Zachery Basher, Brittany Young, Kyle Basher, and Tyler Small; and great grandchild, Ryleigh Basher.
