John was a wonderful neighbor,, teacher, and friend. We have fond memories of times with your family. I still think of Kevin as a second son as he and Brett were always together. There are no words when someone you love is taken, only time will soften the pain. May all of the happy memories carry you through time of sorrow.
Peg, you a nd your family are in our prayers. We love you!

John Barry was exactly what my Jenny needed at that point in her life, and he excelled in teaching everything he taught. She grew so much that year, especially in math and writing. She wanted to buy a birthday cake for him and found the perfect one in her mind – a cake “hamburger”. So much learning; so many laughs. She loved Mr Barry.

John was a wonderful teaching colleague. He was always available with a friendly smile and a ready offer of assistance. His students loved him and flourished in his classes over the years. It’s so unfair his retirement was so short.

Throughout my entire education, even college, Mr. Barry has always been my favorite teacher! He has positively impacted so many lives! Those of us who were lucky enough to be in one of his classes are blessed to have crossed paths with him. He was my 4th grade teacher at Pioneer and I remember jumping for joy when I found out I was in his class! We all wanted Mr. Barry for a teacher. He was an exceptional human being and I can only hope my daughter has a teacher 1/2 as good as Mr. Barry at some point in her life. RIP and my thoughts are with you and your family Kevin!

I always remember John working in the yard. We would be BBQing on the deck and chatting with him. As a neighbor he was the best. He would oftentimes mow our lawn as he mowed his own just to help us out when my Mother was sick. He always had a smile and a kind word.

When I was a member of his 4th grade class in the eighties i use to wish Mr. Barry was my father. He was kind and fun and made me feel like i was important. I was lucky enough to be friends with his daughter Erin who always embodied the same magnetic characteristics as her dad. I was lucky just to have him in my life.

Peg: We really treasured knowing John … First in the many teacher conferences with him at Pioneer, for our four kids, Then with the School “outings” (picnics, parades, parties, etc.), And, finally as a really close neighbor. PS Love your other “plums”, too!!
