Tom Barnhouse

Obituary of Tom Barnhouse

Barney had fought and won many battles, but on January 27, 2014 he lost the battle to pulmonary hypertension at home in Rainier, Wash. He was born October 19, 1944 to Leon and Rose Barnhouse in Olympia, Wash. Barney graduated from Rainier High School (1962), served in the US Navy in San Diego, Calif. (1962-1965), married Ginnie on September 5, 1965 in Escondido, Calif., and was a foreman at Weyerhaeuser for 21 years. He was a great story teller and a friend to everyone he met. He could fix anything and was always willing to help others. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his quad with his good friend Ron Bailey, hanging out with family and friends, planting and caring for his garden, and bird watching. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Washington Teamsters. He also was a member of the Olympia Seventh Day Adventist Church. Barney is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ginnie; daughter, Debbie, and son-in-law, Steve Anderson, of Lacey, Wash; son, Alan, and daughter- in-law, Lynette, of Chehalis, Wash.; grandchildren, Cala, Josh and Jake; great-granddaughter, Riley; brothers, John and Vic of Centralia, Wash.; and sisters, Sally of Rainier and Loretta of Maryland. He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Bill and Leonard. The family thanks everyone at St. Peter Hospice for their care and support, as well as the many who prayed for healing, strength and peace for the family during this difficult journey.
