Patty, I’m truly sorry to have just learned of Tom’s passing. It was an honor to know him, and all my life he’s been a benchmark by which I judge other musicians. I’m sorry for your loss, and sorry I didn’t stay in touch with you both.

Patty - This is Stacey Alvord (Howdeshell) and I happened upon Tom's obituary and saw your comment. I don't think his wife Patty realized these were here. i can let her know your email - I think you and I tried to connect on FB, but I am always fearful of stuff on there.
If you are ok with sharing your email you can email me at howdeshell123@gmail.com Love --Stacey

Dearest Patti, I am thinking of you and your family, so sorry to hear of your loss. Reading about Tom brought back many memories both of your marriage at the house and of our times as children running back and forth from our family homes. I am happy that you found such a loving and talented partner and I am sorry your time together ended far too soon. Think of the good times and all that you shared, it will bring a smile and give you warmth. You will continue to be in my thoughts.

The Alvord family are our cousins, but we are more than that, we are family. Toms humble nature has had a lasting effect on me. He approached life with a determination to live it with as much joy as could be pulled from it. He will be missed however his lessons in life will be with me until its time for my meet up with those who have gone before me. Patty, know that we are here for you as you are our family. Tom thanks for all you did for me. We love you all.

Hi Patty, so sorry to hear of Toms’ passing. I recall fun times jamming with Tom. Out of our group he was definitely the best guitarist.

I have fond memories of Tom back in the day when we were in the OHS band. Riding the band bus to games with Tom, Lew Cox and the rest of the gang just being the crazy kids that we were. Memories of an unforgettable party in the summer off Overhulse Road with Tom and the band playing, a bonfire crackling, dancing and – oh you can guess the rest. So glad to know Tom shared his life with a wonderful woman he loved. May his family find comfort in the arms of the friends who loved him.

Tom was kind enough to come into Littlerock Studio and play slide guitar on a song I recorded back in the late 70’s. Bruce Whitcomb was the engineer. Tom never heard the song before and just sat down and played it. Talented man, humble, and considerate. He had a gift and he shared it. Good form! Blessed to had known him.

I have the dearest and fondest memories of Tom. He was a percussionist in the OHS band (class of ’71.) The No Toy Boys played at my wedding reception in 1974. He was a very good man, and I am very sad to hear of his passing. I’m sorry, Patty.

Tom probably wouldn’t recognize my name but would probably remember the tall guy in the back of the room at the 4th Ave., listening to the No Toy Boys and grinning when Tom did one of his beautiful solos. So many good memories, thanks Tom, and for to his family for sharing such a talented man.

I never really knew Tom but the Alvords were our neighbors and I want to offer my condolences. Back in the 60s I lived across the street at 115 W. 20th. I never knew we were so close in age, myself 8/15/53. I’ve lived in Seattle for the last about 36 years.
