Obituary of John Michael Weeden

John Michael Weeden passed away July 18, 2017 in Olympia, Washington at the age of 68. He was born to Steven and Rose Weeden in Spokane, Washington. John lived in Olympia for over 36 years, but before that he graduated from Shadle Park High School in Spokane in 1967. He then went on to graduate from Washington State University in 1971, shortly after marrying Diana Thayer in Albion, Washington in1970. After college, they lived in Omak, Washington from 1972 to 1974 and Centralia, Washington from 1976 to 1981, before settling in Olympia. John worked with DSHS for 31 years. He was a case worker and contract manager, as well as working in IT for Children’s Services, CSD and DASA. For fun, John loved the outdoors. He went hiking every Tuesday with THEM hikers for 10 years. When he stopped hiking, he still loved to spend time in nature. He would bird watch and go on long walks up until his last days. John was also very fond of boating and he would mess about with anything from kayaks to 30 sailboats. John traveled as often as he could. John left behind his wife, Diana of Olympia, Washington; his brothers, Steven of Spokane, Washington, and James of Glendale, Arizona; his sister, Sue McLaughlin of Spokane; and mother, Rose Weeden.
