Obituary of Roosevelt Wilson

None Roosevelt Wilson, Jr., age 61, of Lacey, Washington, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 after a brave fight with lung cancer and a brain tumor. He was born June 19, 1944 in Clinton, South Carolina. Roe graduated from Austin Peay High School, Knoxville, Tennessee in 1962 and joined the Army. He served two tours in Viet Nam and retired from the Army after 23 years as a Helicopter Instructor Pilot Chief Warrant Officer 3 in 1985. Roe was a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He began Washington state employment in 1986 and was working for The Office of Insurance Commissioner. Roe enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, chess, and his small poker club. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary. He is survived by his wife, Janet; his son, Franklin of Olympia; his daughter, Shyla, of Kansas, both from a prior marriage, and his stepson, Bruce, of Lacey; his mother, Mary; his half brother, Lee Goodman and his wife and their two children, all of Tennessee. He was a proud grandfather of seven. A private Graveside Service with full military honors will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery. Prayer with Reverend Vaughn Reece, Pastor of SouthSound Life Church. He was respected and admired by all, greatly loved by his family and will never be forgotten.
