Obituary of Edith A. White

None EDITH A. WHITE Born September 23rd, 1935 in Dayton, WA to Boyd and Mae Flanders. Edith passed away on Sunday May 1st in McKenna, WA. Edith grew up in the Kitsap County area, where she met a Navy Seaman, Glenn White. They were married on June 4, 1955. They moved to the Spokane area where they started raising a family. In 1957 they moved to the Tacoma area. Edith worked at Ft. Lewis in the early 1960’s, and they moved to Olympia in 1967. Edith retired from Ft. Lewis in 1977 and began working as a housekeeper for motels in the Thurston County area. Edith resided in their West Olympia home until 2001, when due to declining health she moved into a nursing home. She has resided at Nisqually Valley Care Center where she made several friends of both residents and staff. Edith was preceded in death by her husband Glenn in 1993, and a brother Wesley Flanders. She is survived by her children, Robin White of Olympia, Marie Ney of Yelm, Edmund White of Yelm, and Lee White of Tenino, a brother Lynn Flanders of Fairview, OR and sisters Wanda Ashmore and Laura Fowler of Medford, OR, and six grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Peace Lutheran Brethren Church 2242 Friendly Grove Rd. N.E. Olympia on Saturday May 14th at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the Peace Lutheran Brethren Deacon fund in Edith’s name to assist with an outstanding nursing home obligation of several thousand dollars.
