Obituary of Gaylon Wheaton

No Visitation Gaylon Wheaton, a resident of Rainier was born in Coulee City, Wa. on June 26, 1937. He passed away on February 10, 2006 after a six year battle with multiple myeloma. He attended Toledo High School in Toledo, Oregon. Following High School he enlisted in the army in 1956 and served until 1959 in Germany. He worked at Simpson Timber Co. from 1959-1966. He worked for Shotwell Construction from 1966-1967. From 1967 until he retired in 1999 he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Dickson Construction. He is survived by his wife Donna (Sue) Wheaton of Rainier, his son Steven Wheaton and his wife Angie, Shelton, his daughter, Cheri Anderson, Shelton, his brother, Paul Wheaton and his wife Pat, Olympia, his sister, Kay Hickam, Longview, two grandchildren, Ericka Robertson and Chase Wheaton both of Shelton, two great grandchildren, Taylor Wheaton of Olympia and Trinity Robertson, Shelton, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gaylon was preceded in death by his parents Lamont (Monty) Wheaton and Esther Wheaton Rice, a grandson, Michael Wheaton, Shelton and a sister, Maryann Rice, Riverside, CA. Gaylon was a lifetime member of the VFW, as well as member of the Moose and Eagles. The family would like to thank the Western Washington Cancer Center, Lacey and especially Dr. Kang and his staff for all of the loving care they gave to Gaylon during his extended illness for the past six years. Also our thanks to all the nurses in the ambulatory at Capital Medical Center, Olympia for the special care they gave him all of these years. Gaylon was an avid hunter for many years, of deer, elk, cougar and bear, predominately in the Olympics where his ashes will be spread. He enjoyed fishing and clam digging. He loved to work on sprint race cars with his long time friend, Glenn Walker of Olympia who owned and drove the sprint cars. He loved interacting with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
