LAWRENCE ELMER WELLS Lawrence Elmer Wells, 87, of Olympia, died Saturday, January 21, 2006. Lawrence was born January 4, 1919 in Scott City, Kansas to Lewis and Sarah (McCool) Wells. He attended schools in Scott City. On November 3, 1941 in Wapato, Washington, he married the former Geraldine Calhoun, who survives. Lawrence served in the U. S. Army during WWII from March 3, 1944 to March 7, 1946. He was station in the Pacific Theater in Okinawa and Iwo Jima. After the war, he was a truck mechanic for a sand and gravel company in Issaquah, Washington. He and his wife also lived in Bay Center, Washington and Chelan, Washington before moving to Olympia. He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. Survivors in addition to his wife include one son, Lawrence E. Wells, Jr., Lacey, Washington; two daughters, Sarah L. Voss, Rochester, Washington, Judy A. Baker, Kent, Washington; also seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A brother, William C. Wells, two sisters, Thelma Kelsey and Blanch Cox, preceded him in death.
