Elizabeth Triffitt

Obituary of Elizabeth Triffitt

Elizabeth Triffitt, 91, died Thursday, February 10, 2005 at her home. She was born January 17, 1914 to Thomas John and Harriett (Hooker) Turbett in Norfolk, England. Serving in the military during World War II, she was a veteran of the Royal Air Force. She was also employed as a Paralegal. Elizabeth held membership in the Veterans for Peace, Fellowship of Reconciliation, and Daughters of the British Empire. Once retired, Elizabeth’s life work was in the peace and justice realm. When Crown Bottling Company was on strike, she was there with pies, a listening ear, and a letter to the Olympian to give the public an understanding from the worker’s perspective. Many peace marches later, Elizabeth spent most of her time writing letters to the editor of the Olympian on her next topic of importance, which could affect the people of the world or locally. Elizabeth’s kindness and empathy with love will be ever missed, knowing, though, her role will be replaced by many more peace activists. We will carry on for you. With love always, Michael, Tina, Diana, and Daniel. Elizabeth is survived by her granddaughter, Diana M. Pontius, of Lacey; grandson, Michael R. Brown of Chandler, Arizona. Inurnment will take place at Odd Fellows Memorial Park, Tumwater.
