Obituary of Robert L. Marker

Robert L. “Bob” Marker passed away in Olympia, Washington, on December 18, 2016. He was 86. Born in Gering, Nebraska, his family eventually moved to the Spokane area. He lived in Spokane most of his life, and attended Lewis and Clark High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, and married his beloved wife Jean in January of 1951 while stationed in San Diego. Spokane was home until he and Jean moved to Tumwater in 2014. A letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office for 22 years, he worked for Ibex Construction after retirement from the Post Office. A devoted husband and father, he was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing and hunting, especially grouse hunting in the mountains north of Spokane. He was touched by the beauty of Priest Lake, Idaho, where he camped with family and friends every summer for many years. Bob is survived by Jean, his wife of nearly 66 years; sons, Michael and Terry; daughters-in-law, Ceci and Pam; six grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces and extended family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and his extended family played a very large part in his life. Bob always said that he lived his life in the very best of times, and was grateful for that. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
