Barbara Rose

Obituary of Barbara Ann Rose

Barbara Ann Rose, 64, loving mother and friend to many, went to join her husband Allen in heaven on December 11, 2004. She passed peacefully in the home of her daughter after an extended illness, with her children Brian and Jill at her side. Barbara was born in Portland, Oregon on November 9, 1940 to Marie Boyd and Harold Burnett. She graduated from the Girls Polytechnic School in Portland and was active in her church throughout her life. She married her high school sweetheart, Irvin Allen Rose, on June 28, 1963. They lived in Oregon most of their lives and raised two children, in addition to being foster parents to numerous children in the early years of their marriage and welcoming many people into their extended family circle over the years. They moved to Olympia in 2001 after retiring where Barbara spent many hours with her husband quilting and gardening, two of their favorite pastimes. Barbara lived a full life. She made a wonderful home for her husband, children and extended family and was always surrounded by friends, near and far. She had multiple occupations throughout her lifetime, always working with people and being of service to others. She enjoyed camping and trips to the ocean, celebrating holidays, and being a dedicated wife and mother and loyal friend. Barbara was loved by many and will be remembered for her compassion, generosity, sense of humor and a sparkling determination to stay positive despite the many challenges life brought to her. Always there to lend a helping hand or listening ear, she was a source of comfort to many in time of need and inspiration to all throughout her life. Even in the last year of her life after her beloved husband passed away, and as her body was failing, she never failed to keep her faith and positive attitude. Barbara is survived by her son, Brian Allen Rose of Woodburn, Oregon and daughter, Jill Kathleen Rose of Olympia, Washington. Barbara chose to have a celebration of life on November 13th in lieu of a service after her passing. She was happy to have a chance to spend time with loved ones to say goodbye and was surrounded by many who loved her on that day. Remembrances can be made in Barbara’s memory to Harmony Hill of Union, 7362 East SR 106, Union WA 98592, or online at www.harmonyhill.org or to Providence SoundHome Care and Hospice P.O. Box 5008, Olympia, Washington, 98509. Barbara’s presence in our daily lives will be greatly missed, though her spirit will live on through all who have been blessed to know her.
