Obituary of Jane A. Root

Jane A. Root Margaret Jane Althoff Root was born on June 24, 1926 in Hanover, Pennsylvania. She passed away June 8, 2005 in Olympia, Washington. She married John Phillip Root in 1945. They later divorced. Jane loved animals and let her children keep the ones that followed them home. She worked for PAWS when it was a very young organization. She later held various positions as an administrative assistant, working until three months before her death. She loved to garden, enjoyed listening to and playing classical music on her piano, reading, cooking, and sponsoring many family gatherings. She could do the most difficult crossword puzzles with ease. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who helped us believe in ourselves. She is survived by Ginny Robinson (Kirk), John Root (Jo Ann), and Tony Root; grandchildren, Ben Hamilton (Phouang), Evan Hamilton, John C. Root, Donny Thacker, Luke Thacker, Andrew Root, Heather Root, Timothy Root; and four great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, including the horses and Chip. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on June 25, 2005 at 5243 Shincke Road in Olympia. Everyone is welcome. Call 456-2730 for information.
