Obituary of Iris Eilene Nicholson

Born Iris Eilene Lambert, May 20, 1914 in West Seattle, she was the oldest of six children. Iris moved to Olympia in the early 1930’s and during WWII she worked in Alaska for the US Army Air Corps. Iris was a courageous woman who was always there for others. She had compassion for those who had less than her and spent many hours as a volunteer throughout the years. The greatest joy in her life was her family. They include her children, Terese and Mark; her grandchildren, Aaron and Sarah; her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and also her friends. To everyone who knew her, she was a special person whose laughter could light up a room. As one niece recently put it, she was a “Grande Dame”. We will miss you Iris. God speed. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004 at St. Michaels Catholic Church. 1021 Boundary St SE, Olympia. Charitable donations may be made to Bread and Roses House of Hospitality or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
