Obituary of Ralph Junior McFarland

Ralph Junior McFarland was born April 29, 1920 in Pueblo, Colorado. He didn’t know his parents and was only able to attend school through the 4th grade. Throughout his life he worked as a logger, steel worker, convoy truck driver, auto mechanic and farmer. He loved horses, hunting, fishing, working on cars, playing cards and sharing time with family and friends. He had a great love for the outdoors and traveled extensively.Ralph moved from Old Fort Laramie, Wyoming in 1939, driving an Old Model A to Oakville, Washington. He built a house in Cle Elum, Washington and also maintained a property in Portland, Oregon. He was a hard worker, always willing to offer a helping hand with no expectations of anything being given in return. He would feed those that were hungry and give others a place to stay when they had nowhere else to go. He was a generous person with a kind heart. It was through this generosity that he became disabled helping a neighbor move a horse. He spent the past 30 years struggling to maintain independence with his disability, never wanting to burden those around him. His faith, as a Jehovah's Witness, was a leading factor in his life. He was a Special Pioneer in the 40's, dedicating over 150 hours a month to giving free bible studies and helping others learn about Jehovah and the promise of a paradise earth. He pioneered in both Washington and California, going where the need was great. He spent a short time in prison due to his beliefs in opposition to World War II. He maintained his faith throughout the remainder of his life, including his last days. Ralph is survived by seven children, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Harold and Sharon were born from his first marriage to Wyvonne Marie Logan in the early 40's. Harold gifted his father with five children through his marriage to Diana; Timothy, Sam, Rebekah, Sarita and Abigail. Timothy gifted his grandfather with two great grandsons, Dean and Luke, through his marriage to Darla. Abigail gifted her grandfather with a great granddaughter, Taliana, through her committed relationship with Tony. Sam is married to Jolie, Rebekah is in a committed relationship to Ryan and Sarita is engaged to Cory. Sharon gifted her father with three grandsons, Jeremy, Ben and Joe. Ben gifted his grandfather with a great granddaughter, Hollynnd, through his marriage to Ayanne. Joe also gifted his grandfather with a great granddaughter, Victoria through his marriage to Tonya. Malcum, Jason, Hanna, Aaron and Nickolas were born from his second marriage to Linda Edith Martin in 1972. Jason gifted his father with a granddaughter, Katie, through his marriage to Sarah. Malcum is married to Michael, Aaron is married to Heather and Nickolas is in a committed relationship to Loraine. He was a strong, proud man who lived a full life. He raised his children to be strong and independent, able to survive on their own, but also with a strong sense of family loyalty and love. He maintained his sense of humor and his love for nature throughout his entire life. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. at the Centralia Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3626 Harrison.
