Obituary of James E. Martin

Tuesday, September 14, 2004, 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Masonic Center 521 North St. SE Tumwater James Edward Martin, 78, passed away on September 9, 2004 at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. He was born on December 4, 1925 in Tacoma to Robert and Leona Martin. He grew up in Olympia and graduated from Olympia High School in 1944. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1944-1946 as a Radio Operator in the European Theater of Operations in Greenland. James married Rita Eileen Weaverling on November 8, 1947 at St. Michael Parish. They raised three children and he worked as a Plant Superintendent in plywood mills throughout most of his career. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, clam digging, gardening and spending time with family and friends. He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather and he will be greatly missed. James is survived by his wife Rita Martin of Lacey; his children Malinda Levesque of Lacey, Dennis Martin and his wife Sharon of Olympia, and Carole Martin and her husband Kelvin Literal of Olympia; his grandchildren Christopher Levesque, Jennifer Olson, Jacob Literal and Karley Literal; his great-granddaughter Genevieve Levesque; his sister Marion Bell of Rangley, Colorado, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant brother Robert, his son-in-law James Levesque, and his granddaughters Anne Pearce and Alicia Pearce. A visitation will be held at The Masonic Center, 521 North St. SE, Tumwater on Tuesday, September 14, 2004 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Services will be held at St. Michael Parish on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at noon.
