Obituary of Polly Bryda Lien

None POLLY BRYDA LIEN Polly Bryda Lien, 100, died Saturday, May 14, 2005, in Olympia. Polly was born July 23, 1904, in Gardner, North Dakota to Jesse and Rachael (Long) Burley. She was the youngest of 10 siblings (three brothers and seven sisters). She graduated from high school in Alexandria, Minnesota and then spent one year in teachers college. Polly married Earl F. Lien in Alexandria on August 13, 1925. They had three children. The family lived in the towns of Alexandria and Rothsay, Minnesota before moving to Tacoma and Chehalis in 1944-1945. She and Earl lived in many rental homes in Chehalis until they purchased a home on Second Street. Earl worked for the Chevrolet garage and Polly was a homemaker. She enjoyed raising her children. Polly did volunteer work for many years and also worked in the Cascade School lunchroom for several years. She was a longtime active member of the Chehalis Methodist Church and the women’s circle. Polly’s husband, Earl, died in 1980. He was 85. Polly lived alone at her home on Second Street until December 2003 when she moved to Olympia. She resided at the Quality Adult Homecare residence, 1703 13th Avenue SW, Olympia until her death. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Dale Erling Lien and his wife Pauline of Olympia, Paul James Lien and his wife Sherry of Lafayette, Colorado. Her daughter Mary Jo Lien Comstock passed away in 2003 after a long battle with lupus. Mary Jo was married to Dale Comstock of Ellensburg, Washington. The family also includes seven grand children, twelve great grand children and two step-great granchildren. Donations can be made in Polly’s name to the Chehalis United Methodist Church, 16 S.
