Obituary of Babette Koiv

Babette “Betty” Koiv passed away February 10, 2006 at the age of 78 at Puget Sound Healthcare Center in Olympia. She was born on August 8, 1927 in Nurnberg, Germany. She married Gunnar Koiv on December 10, 1948. In November 1951, she and her husband along with their three month old daughter, came to this country from Germany and settled down in Tacoma. Betty was a homemaker but ventured out into the work force once all her kids were in school full time. She worked at various schools within the Tacoma School District and retired as a Head Cook. She loved knitting, crocheting and working in her yard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gunnar in December 2002. She is survived by four children; daughter, Juta Childers of Olympia; son, Vello Koiv of Beaverton, Oregon; daughter, Monica Koiv of Beaverton, Oregon and daughter Heidi Dahlin of Oregon City, Oregon; eight grandchildren, Bryan, Bret and Brandon Childers of Oregon; Alexis and Mikeal Koiv of Beaverton, Oregon; Alex Koiv of Beaverton, Oregon; Erica and Jeffrey Dahlin of Oregon City, Oregon and four great grandchildren. There will be no funeral services at her request. A private family gathering will be at a later date.
