Obituary of Barbara Ellen Klein

Barbara Ellen Klein “Bobbie” Bobbie died, surrounded by her children and husband, late Thursday night, February 2, 2006, at Providence St. Peter Hospital, after a 61/2 year battle with breast cancer. Her struggle has been an inspiration to her family, friends, and healthcare providers. Bobbie was born in Los Angeles, California, August 29, 1946 to Jerome and Eve Abrams. She graduated from Fairfax High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Immaculate Heart College, Los Angeles. She married Donald Klein, December 16, 1967, and moved to Puyallup, Washington in July, 1976. They have resided in Olympia, Washington, since July, 1991 and have been active members of First Baptist Church (Urban Grace), Tacoma, since 1982. She worked as an occupational therapist, and counselor in Los Angeles. She was a participant in the chaplaincy program at St. Joseph Hospital, Tacoma, for two years. Bobbie enjoyed collecting antique furniture, jewelry, objets d’art, and had worked for three years in antique shops in Tacoma. Her primary occupation was a mother to Kristine, Timothy and Chelsea. Bobbie is survived by Don, Kristine, Tim and Chelsea; her brother and his family, Alan, Cynthia, and Matt Abrams; mother, Eve Abrams; Marian Klein of San Diego, CA, Ken, Diana, and Anna Klein of Los Angeles, CA; Jamie and Jeanne Clevenger of Los Angeles, CA; Kathy and Wiley Feinstein of Chicago, Il and Aaron Feinstein of New York, NY. Services will be held at First Baptist Church, 904 Washington St., SE, Olympia, WA 98501, at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2006. A graveside will be held at the Masonic Cemetery, Tumwater following the service and reception. The family requests donations to the Susan B. Komen Cancer Foundation, in lieu of flowers.
