Obituary of Iva Berthene Kegley

no visitation Iva Berthene Kegley passed away on January 19, 2005 at Providence St. Peter Hospital. She had lived in the Olympia area for the past 25 years. Iva was born in LeRoy, Minnesota on December 7, 1925 to Lloyd and Mary Clawson. She was preceded in death by her Mother, her Father, and her younger sister, Maxine. She is survived by her two sisters, Evelyn Thomas of Concord, CA and Virginia McLauchlan of Eugene, OR and her brother, Donald Clawson of Brentwood, CA. Iva leaves four children, and one step-son: Joyce Randall of Bothell, Dr. Paul Randall of Tumwater, Dr. Wade Randall of Centrailia, Claudia Randall of Rochester, and Brian Kegley of Camino Island. She would be proud to tell you that she also leaves 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Iva was married to Kenneth Randall in 1942. All four of her children were bore to him. The marriage to Ken involved many moves because of the requirements of the construction trades he was employed at. They moved about once a year for the first 15 years of marriage. When Ken decided to enter Chiropractic college in Davenport, Iowa, Iva went to beauty school to help support the family during his training. From Iowa the family moved to Stevenson, Washington then to Aberdeen where she lived for the next 16 years. During this time she worked as a beautician as well as raising her children and running the home. In 1969 her marriage with Ken ended. In 1970 she married Arnold McCloskey in Hoquiam but soon moved to Scott Lake near Olympia. The marriage to Arnold ended in 1987. She married Leon Kegley of Olympia in 1990. Both previous husbands and current one have preceded her in death. Iva was a very gifted artist. Her oil paintings are cherished by her family and friends as well as are the many quilts she made especially for family members. She was an avid bowler, a member of two different teams in two different leagues at the Westside Lanes. She carried a 141 average up to her death. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, puzzles of all kinds, board games and card games with anyone who would join her. Iva especially enjoyed her family and presided over many family gatherings. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and found comfort there. In leiu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the Tsunami relief fund of your choice.
