Obituary of Helen A. Howse

Helen Howse, 71, of Olympia, died Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at her home in Olympia after a courageous battle with cancer. Helen was born May 29, 1933 in Vancouver, Washington to Frank and Virginia (Eastbrook) Small. She graduated from Vancouver High School in 1951. On June 25, 1952 Helen married George Howse. George’s Army career caused he and Helen to live in Germany, Virginia, Lakewood and Ft. Lewis before retiring to the Nisqually Valley in 1967. George died in 1992. Helen has been with her devoted companion, Richard “Dick” White, who survives, since 1993. Helen enjoyed traveling in her RV, clam digging and gardening. She was noted for her pickle making and her enthusiasm for the Mariners. She loved her family and Dick very much, and her many friends. She was a member of the Elk’s RV Club. She will always be remembered for her love of life, sense of humor, and loving ways. Survivors in addition to her companion Dick, include three sons, David (Patty) Howse, Olympia, Gary Howse, Seattle, Lawrence (Maggie) Howse, Port Orchard; one daughter, Julie (Bob) Cryderman, Reno, Nevada; one sister, Roberta Wolstad, Olympia; also six grandchildren. A special thank you to Martins Southgate Drug. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 30, 2005 at the Masonic Center, 521 North Street, Tumwater.
