Obituary of JoAnn Hayes

JoAnn Hayes, (73) loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, lost her battle with cancer, April 10, 2006, Olympia, WA. JoAnn died peacefully in her home, surrounded by her beloved husband, adult children and grandchildren. True to the values JoAnn embraced in life – she handled her illness with grace, humor and compassion for others. Those who were blessed to know JoAnn will remember her generosity of spirit and the ways she connected with people. One of the rules JoAnn lived by, will long be remembered: never say an unkind thing. JoAnn was born May 25th, 1932, in Wichita, Kansas where she attended North High School. A devoted mother and inventive cook, her family created a legacy book of JoAnn’s recipes. She was a member of the Westside Christian Church. JoAnn later moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma where she and husband, Robert, “Bob” were dedicated volunteers at the local senior center. JoAnn and Bob were devoted to one another throughout the span of their long and loving marriage. JoAnn recently moved to Olympia, Washington to be near family. She was preceded in death by parents, Cora Lanz and Charles Rose; three brothers and one sister. JoAnn is survived by husband, Bob; daughter Debbie Yantis of Olympia, Wa., Crystal Stutz of Killeen, Texas, son Terry Yager of Lake Hovasu City Arizona; brothers, Charles Rose, Atascadero, California; Dean Rose, Ponca City; and sister Aileen Hall, Hot Springs, Arkansas. JoAnn is also survived by three stepchildren, 15 grand children and seven great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at the home of George and Betty Yantis, 1855 Yantis St., Olympia, WA, 98502. 1:00 pm Sat. April 22, 2006. Chaplin Eric Ness will be officiating.
